Two workers killed, seven trapped in building collapse

The building which housed the Jaya supermarket and still remains a landmark in Section 14 Petaling Jaya partially collapsed this evening, killing at least two workers and trapping seven others.

Rescue pull out one body from the collapse building.
The multi-level car park of the building went down at about 4.45pm.

Demolition and rebuilding work on the building, which is to make way for a new commercial project, had been going on since its tenants moved out more than two years ago.

The nine workers, all believed to be Indonesians, were working on the ground and first floors in different locations when the incident occurred.
