The Perlis government and the Satun administrative region have jointly agreed to forward a proposal on the construction of a tunnel to link Sungai Batu Pahat in Malaysia and Satun in Thailand to the Cabinets in their respective countries.
The proposed tunnel, which would be about four kilometres long and built across a mountain range, would serve as a new gateway between Perlis and Satun in southern Thailand, as well as boost economic activities in the border areas.
