Power failure spoils hill holiday for 300

About 300 tourists were stranded on Penang Hill for three hours following a power failure at the upper station.

To compound the problem, a transformer broke down at the middle station.

Those on the upper station were ferried down the hill in six jeeps to the Botanic Gardens and transported back to the lower station in Air Itam via two buses at 5.30pm yesterday.

Tourists caught at the middle station had to walk down to the lower station using the flight of steps.

Many of them vented their anger to newsmen waiting at the lower station, some saying they would never visit Penang again.
