Authorities checking if Negri deaths due to A(H1N1)

Health authorities are in the midst of determining whether the three deaths reported in Negri Sembilan on Aug 30 were due to Influenza A(H1N1), director-general Tan Sri Dr Ismail Merican said.

“The cases, involving victims aged between 24 and 42, have been forwarded to the Mortality Review Committee, which will announce its findings as soon as possible,” he said on Tuesday.

Currently, 72 people have died in Malaysia due A(H1N1)-related causes.

Dr Ismail said 278 new patients had been warded for influenza-like illnesses (ILIs) over the last 24 hours, while 279 people have been discharged.
